Training

Training

Our Training Division serves both in-house training for officers as well as specialized training for the community.

Our officers complete 40 hrs of additional training to satisfy their P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) requirements, however, with additional specialized training, most officers will complete 80 hours per year.  Continuing education, specialized conferences, community education, and outreach are an important part of the training portfolio.

We also provide a variety of services outlined below that are free to the public.

Women’s Self Defense Class

We are here to serve and protect, but also to educate.  Women are considerably more likely than men to say that they "always" or "often" feel unsafe participating in everyday activities.  Our department offers a Women’s Self-Defense class, to help educate women on how to identify and avoid the risk of becoming a victim, but also how to defend against an attack.

Our Women’s Self-Defense Class consists of 6 tactical self-defense techniques, a program specially designed by our Training Sergeant, Matt Dedman.  These moves can be taught and executed by anyone, young or advanced in age, you just need a general skill set for self-defense.

If your group is interested in taking advantage of this FREE program, please click on the link below to request a class.  Class requirements are assessed on a case by case basis.

faith-based organizations, small businesses, and more.  Our department is here to help assess if your organization is vulnerable to an active threat and to educate on how to react and respond in an emergency situation.  If your organization would like to take advantage of this free service, please click on the link below.
