S.W.A.T. – Special Weapons And Tactics
The S.W.A.T. team is comprised of members of the police department. There are seventeen total members on the team. All officers receive specialized training to respond to high risk incidents including, barricaded subjects, hostage situations, woodland operations, dignitary protection, high risk search warrants and other operations as assigned by the chief of police. Each member of the team is required to go through a 10 week assessment that includes a physical fitness test, stress induced situations and basic skills assessment before being selected. Once selected, the team members are required to pass a basic S.W.A.T. school and continually train on all areas of the unit. The team has an armored vehicle that is used for rescues and high risk situations in the City of Lebanon and other agencies that request assistance.
